2022 Venue SEL (USA) has no DRL

Why is there no DRL for SEL? However, I find it odd that the front turn signal bulbs have two filaments but I don’t think that the second filament is being used. Could this have been intended to be the DRL for the SEL in the US? I would like to energize that second filament as the daytime running light.

DRL is required I believe. According to the service manual it's #2 in the pic.

Here's my DRL on. They were not on just sitting, engine running. They didn't come on in D with e-brake on so I drove in the driveway and my security cam showed them on. So there are some conditions to be met to turn them on which is likely why you are not seeing them.

I don't have my Ultimate Venue yet but I wonder if there's a setting that you may have to turn on and there are times when the DRL doesn't come on on many cars, like when the emergency brake is applied...in Canada they have always been law for many, many years but I've noticed over the last few years seeing Canadian vehicles with them off and I suspect there's settings on newer vehicles where the DRL can be turned off.

Nothing in the user settings, at least on the Venue Preferred that I have. I believe the DRL are turned off while in Park so you don't become a target in a parking lot, etc. I know that when I remote start mine the lights blink then go off. All my other cars with DRL turn them on when running.
Maybe some cars can turn them off optionally, if you pull the DRL relay or the realy fails, they won't come on at all. My son modified his DRL to not come on his Dodge Ram because he added other lights. He has a programmer in his laptop to allow him to program most anything through the OBDII port.
I was just reading that in Canada DRL is required, in USA DRL is not required but has been permitted on vehicles since 1995. Both the Canadian and USA manuals detail DRL in them.
The DRL turns on when the parking brake is released.

There are the incandescent DRLs for the lower trims.
There are the square led DRLs for the upper trims.

I have a security camera for my driveway. I review the footage of my Venue coming up the driveway and there is NO light lit on the front. I don't have LED bulbs in my 022 SEL so it is a "Type A". Type A does not have a DRL bulb in the USA! Alright, I'm not going to pursue this peculiarity but I'm just curious of the front signal light bulbs having two filament but I'm sure only one filament is being used for the blinker. Yes, DRL is required in CA but not in the US.

Maybe someone else with USA SEL model can check if they have DRL?

In the Canadian manual, light #2 is DRL/Parking lamp.

Check your instrument panel fusebox. Check if there is a DRL fuse. If you have it, is the fuse blown? If not, ask your dealer to check why DRL is not working.

The service manual shows the DRL schematic. (Same for bulb or LED)

I don't know what the laws are in the US for DRL's but in Canada they've been mandatory for many years now and I suspect with all the changes and expenses for the auto makers with things like the lights and use of DRL's the manufactures have the DRL's control on some vehicles come on automatically and have their activation also controlled with the light switches and use different lights for them whether in the US, Canada and other countries and that's the same with models like the Ultimate Venue in Canada is much the same as the Limited in the US but in Canada the lights are set up different and things like heated steering wheels are standard on most models like the Ultimate and as well the sun roof etc. and are optional on the Limited..the Ultimate comes with everything.

I will post the site of the Canadian site of the Venue which some here may want to look at to see the differences between the US and Canadian models and as well other countries...things like heated steering wheels wouldn't be wanted or needed in some countries where as heated steering wheels are on almost all of our cars now and of course the prices on this site will be Canadian dollars...actually if you look at all of Hyundai vehicles there are models and options that are only in Canada.

DRL is not mandatory in the USA. That’s why I’m not too worried about it that my 2022 Venue SEL does not have a DRL.

Do those lights come on when you switch on the park lights?

When I turn on the park lights, only the parking light (2) and the side marker light (4) are on. Note that the parking light is bright white - I have replaced it with LED.

I guess that confirms no DRL. Would have cost them nothing to have left in the software to use them as DRL.

I don't have my Ultimate yet but I understand on the Ultimate the light number 2 will light up as a cornering light when making a turn so I presume it comes on with the operation of the turn signal.

More than turn signal operated...

Cornering lamp (if equipped)
While driving a corner, for greater
visibility and safety, either the left or
right side Cornering lamp will turn on
automatically. The cornering lamp
will turn on when one of the following
conditions occur.
• Vehicle speed is less than 10 km/h
(6 mph) and steering wheel angle is
turned approximately 80 degrees with
the low beam on.
• Vehicle speed is between 10 km/h
(6 mph) to 90 km/h (56 mph) and
steering wheel angle is turned
approximately 35 degrees with the
low beam on.
• When the vehicle is in reverse with
one of the conditions above satisfied,
the light opposite to the direction the
steering wheel is turned will turn on.

Hey guys - Venue specs are different in CA from US markets. In the US, 2022 SEL is the next lower trim from the top, which is Limited. I don’t know what is the equivalent trim for the US SEL! In my picture above, 1 is Headlight, 2 is Parking light, 3 is Turn Signal light, and 4 is Side Marker light. As I have mentioned I don’t care if there is no DRL. I just wanted to verify that there is really no DRL for US 2022 Venue SEL. It’s very clear to me now that there is none. Thank you all.
Check the Hyundai USA web site and the answer will reveal itself. Go to Venue and compare trims, exterior features. The SEL does not have DRL, the Limited does. I’m glad I bought mine in March 2021, an SEL Premium. I don’t like what Hyundai did in the 2022 Venue.

thanks for your site...there are a few differences between the US and Canadian models besides the DRL rules between the two countries and I know there are quite a few differences with other countries as well but maybe I'm not looking at your site properly, but I don't see the Denim option...is it not offered in the US for 2022...here in Canada it can be gotten with the Denim option in the Ultimate model which the Limited model in the US is similar to what the Ultimate is.

I ordered mine at the end of January and it was supposed to be made in April and haven't heard yet if that happened yet, and I suspect that not just parts etc. shortages are dealing the car, but things like the differences between various countries may also be the cause of delays...I'd think with today's assembly lines, besides colours, it's just a matter of putting the right options in the cars, and from the searching I've done on Google I think the Venue is made in the Hyundai plant in India which may cause a delay because of moving parts from country to country...with the North American car manufacturing the way it is for parts, it's almost an over night shipping process.
