Dealer installed bug deflector car wash & noise

For you that have had the bug deflector installed will it go through a car wash with any problems? Have installed a few on previous trucks and never had a problem just don't know if it would be a problem with the Venue. Also does the dealer know about the noise issue when one is installed and has a fix for it?

I would really like to get one installed and not go with the Clear Bra like I have done with 3 previous vehicles. That being said I will say the Clear Bra does work. Thanks!

My dealer didn't have a clue.I think my deflector was the first they installed on a Venue. As I detailed in posts before, I had to prove the solution to them. It's really a simple fix, before or after the deflector is installed. If the dealer doesn't want to apply the foam tape to the back of the deflector (not to the hood) at installation, I'd insist that they agree to take it back when it's noisier on the highway. I've never had mine through a car wash but I can't see any reason to be concerned about going through one. Most deflectors fasten to the hood in the same fashion.

How is the deflector installed on the hood? What I always read is no drilling?

No drilling, in the pics you can see the clips that hold it to the hood. You can also see the foam tape that closes the gap between the deflector and the hood, it only goes on the leading edge. I told the mechanic to leave gaps in the foam tape at each clip to allow for drainage. Sticky side of the foam goes on the deflector so it comes off with the deflector if it's ever removed, nothing stuck to hood. No foam tape is required at the "wings" at either end. I found closing that gap made no difference in wind noise.

Many thanks for the pictures. Explains a lot. The deflector design does look very good on the Venue!

Yes, it's very good quality. I just looked at where you are from, The Hyundai deflector may not be available in USA. Best ask your dealer if it can be ordered in.

I gotta ask: are bugs really such a big problem that you have to worry about deflecting them? I don't ever have problems with massive bug buildup on my windshield. Of course I live in a concrete city. Maybe in rural areas this is a bigger problem.
It does seem to reduce the bug splatter when driving long distances on rural highways at night. I bought it as more of a hood protector but mostly, I like the look of it.
