Hello Folks,

I got my car back from the dealership and I noticed when I put the car in park, turn off the car and exit the vehicle that the radio didn't turn off. This function worked this morning when I provided the car to the dealership. After a bit more troubleshooting I was able to figure out that the car doesn't recognize the door at all. If I open the door with the car on, I don't see the door ajar pop up on the screen, like the others do. It also doesn't trigger the light in the car to turn on, like the others do.

I called the dealership back and informed them of this. They talked to their tech specialist that said this would have nothing to do with the TCU upgrade. They want me to bring it back in and potentially charge me if they find its not an issue with the upgrade or not under warranty. Everything else works with the door, lock unlock, window button etc. I also cant tell if this is something that would be under warranty as their warranty is so convoluted. Just wondering if anyone has had any issues with this. I find it super suspect that the sensors stopped working within the time they had it yet it not be their fault.

Thanks for your input.

Have you located the little switch that closes when you close the door? It might just be stuck in the closed position and needs to be cleaned or jiggled.
The little black nubby thing in the door frame? Yes, It clicks in and out no problem. Doesn't seem to be stuck, I will try jiggling it around more to see if its not fully actuating. It is making a clicking sound though when I press it down and let go. From what I can tell its functioning properly.

Is it possible that the seat belt pretensioner recall may have been done at the same time. If so they would have been working in the area around the door switch. If not try pressing on the switch to see if it feels stuck or something.

Yes, they did also do the pretensioner recall at the same time. I'll go out and test out the other door switches and see if the driver door feels/acts the same way. Thanks for this.

All that's involved is the switch, connector, wire to the computer and nav or infotainment system, depending on model. I'm a little confused why it wouldn't be under warranty. Especially if they broke something while doing the pretensioner recall.

If the wire got pulled off the switch it would show door ajar and the dome light would stay on. Seems more likely that the wire somehow got shorted to ground. Maybe they crushed the wire when putting it back together and it's contacting the body.

It probably is under warranty. They were just being hard to get along with on the phone and didn't want to take responsibility and informed me there could be a charge if they found they weren't at fault/not a warranty item. I went out and checked all the switches on each door as per your original post. The driver door switch 100% feels different than the others. It has a lot more play and doesn't feel as firm also makes a odd clicking noise when the others don't. I assume they messed something up when doing the pretensioner recall. I'll give them a call back and inform them of their mistake. Thanks again for your response. It was a big help.

If the switch was shorted all the time it would act same as if wire was shorted. Hope they take good care of you.

Could I ask why they were updating the TCU? I have not heard that there is an update for it.
I'm not sure to be honest. I had the appointment for the pretensioner recall and when I got there they said there was also an TCU upgrade available and they would be doing that at the same time. It's a 2021 Venue and I haven't gotten any work done at the dealership apart from this recall. It's possible it was an older update that I should have gotten a while ago? On the invoice it says TCU Upgrade - QX TCU Upgraded and IVT Replacement Venue (QX)

Mine is a 2021 also. Still waiting on the pretensioner to be done. I've had all my oil changes done at the dealer and I've asked if there were any updates available for the car and have always been told no. So, I think it must be fairly new.

It must be, I haven't been into the dealership since I bought the car, I normally do my oil changes with my Uncle. I actually bought it in a city over due to getting a better deal but brought it into my local dealership to get the recalls done. They never mentioned the upgrade over a week ago when I called for the appointment. They only mentioned it to me this morning when I brought the car in. I cant say I notice much, however I only drove it from the dealership to my house 20ish minutes away and I'm not overly car savvy. The only thing I did notice, is it didn't seem to rev as high when the car started and the overall idle rpms seemed to be lower from the 2 minutes I spent on the phone in the dealerships parking lot. I'm not overly knowledgeable on the matter though, maybe I will notice a change when I get to drive more/longer distance.

Is there a number associated with "QX TCU Upgraded and IVT Replacement Venue (QX) " on the invoice.
Did Hyundai contact you to get the pretensioner work done. I'm still waiting to get mine done, dealer keeps saying no parts available yet.

No firmware # on invoice. Just their "part" number (10D198). If its something you can see in the settings on the car I can grab it for you tomorrow morning, if you're intrested. Hyundai never contacted me, even the dealership I got the car from didn't contact me. I called them because I originally wanted them to check on my breaks and had mentioned the recall. They ordered in the recall part for me once I mentioned it to them, it came within the week. Break issue was due to snow/ice being stuck in the rotor from the plow going by and slamming a ton of snow into the wheel well. The noises I was hearing ended up going away after I sprayed them out with a pressure washer.

Ok, thanks, nothing we could find from settings. Sometimes a sticker is put under the hood that indicates the service campaign work that was done.
