how long does it normally take from the time you order till it gets from the factory to dealership

I'm in the Provence of Ontario, Canada, and I ordered my 2022 Venue Ultimate at the end of January and in about the second week of February I received an email from Hyundai that my car would be built in March and yesterday I got another email saying they're sorry for the delay and it will now be built in April and of course both emails have the "Please note that the ongoing global semi-conductor shortage and supply chain disruptions as a fallout from COVID 19 may impact the timing of vehicle production and arrival to your dealership".

I fully understand the reasons for the delays. Do most of you receive emails as to when your cars will be built and if you do does Hyundai give you an estimate time after the build as to when the car gets shipped by boat to Canada and for me here in Ontario it will have to be shipped by rail from Vancouver to Ontario and then by truck to my dealer. I'm just curious about the time frame.

Sorry, can't help you, bought mine off the lot. They had tons of cars then, now, only a few low option models available off the lot.

check auto trader...the dealers there are asking from 2 grand to almost 4 grand more then I'm paying for my Ultimate in Denim and the only options are dealer installed options...I'm getting a block heater and mud guards which will be added to my Ultimate along with the normal freight and tax...the dealer did tell me they wouldn't promise the amount of time from the factory to the dealership but said they've been getting factory orders sooner then they expected.
Sorry you're getting such a run-around. I got mine in the days when they were easier to get (November 2019). I drove one of the few models they had on the lot, liked it, and told them, "Call me when you have a green one with a manual transmission." They called me back in three hours and said they had found one across town.
I suspect there's delays all over for factory orders because of the covid and semi-conductor shortage and supply chain disruptions and who knows if the Russian invasion of Ukraine is affecting things as well...specking of Russia here's a little something you all may like...

A man in Moscow buys a newspaper, glances at the front page, & throws it away.
He does the same thing every day.
Eventually, the seller snaps "Why DO you do that?"
"I'm just checking for an obituary"
"But obituaries aren't on the front page!"
"The one I'm looking for will be."

I guess I can't complain considering the state the auto industry is in today with the aftermath of Covid and parts shortages.

My 1999 Camaro SS convertible took 3 months to get from the time I ordered to when I got it...at that time the Camaro was made in Montreal...shortly after I ordered the car my dealership told me the plant didn't have enough parts to build the SS and were soon to start the 2000 cars and I could get the 2000 model which was much the same as the 1999...then the next week they said it would be built...at that time the SS cars were made in the GM plant and then shipped down the road to SLP who converted the Camaro to the SS's...my car is one of only 63 convertibles that were built for Canada and I believe about 325 or so convertibles went to the US.
I lucked out. On an October Saturday a local Dealer's site said mine was "Arriving soon." Closed the deal on Thursday, drove it home Friday.

did Hyundai or the Hyundai main office in the US email you when the car was going to be built or when it was built and shipped...I've got 2 emails so far and they came from Hyundai Canada which is probably their office in Canada where all our dealerships in Canada go through when they place factory orders...the reason I ask is to have an idea how long it takes from the build to shipping to Canada by boat and once here the car will go by train from the west coast to Ontario and then to my dealership by truck.
In my country from the order placed to getting the car about 3-4 months. Some guys found a way to track your shipment if have the windows sticker barcode. Unfortunately I couldn't since windows sticker is a thing only in the US

Canada is a big place, so I imagine the above might take a bit longer. I have no idea what POE my Venue used. I suspect it was one of the first 22's sent over. I do notice that more local dealers are listing them in inventory here in the Northeast. These are strange times and the journey from the factory to your local dealer is a tough one. Here the usual practice is to hit the dealer for interest the moment a car is delivered. So the dealer wants to move things too.
I've never gotten updates from the manufacturer for the ten plus cars bought new. I do recall ordering a customized Ford Fairmont wagon, and about a week later the salesman told me that if I wanted the custom instrument panel, I'd have to wait a few months. I guess I was the only buyer in USA who wanted a tach in a basic level wagon.
I can only add that Hyundai generally has their act together, so you will get your Venue.
