Hyundai Venue expected price

Hyundai was quoted saying the 2020 Venue will be cheaper than the Kona (from $19,240). On the low end is the Kia Soul (from $17,490), a product they won't price near or under with the Venue. Compare similar segment vehicles from Hyundai and Kia, the same logic plays out. A $17,000 vehicle is out of the picture. That puts us somewhere in the $18,000 range. If I know Hyundai like I do, they'll undercut the more well established brands like Jeep and Nissan by at least a few hundred. Doing the math that put us around $18,500.

Now the question is, would you buy a Hyundai Venue priced from $18,500?
  • $17,490 - Kia Soul
  • $18,750 - Jeep Renegade
  • $18,640 - Nissan Kicks
  • $19,240 - Hyundai Kona
  • $19,995 - Ford EcoSport
  • $19,995 - Fiat 500x
  • $20,520 - Honda HR-V
  • $20,995 - Toyota CH-R

At that price I'll get a soul. For venue to compete base should be around 17,000, I can see premium being 19,500
Maybe Hyundai will price it similar to the Soul like the Palisade to Telluride?
I think $18,500 is a very reasonable estimate for the Venue. At that price I would easily pick it over the Renegade, 500x, EcoSport and Kicks.

To be fair the Renegade stands out, its rugged, packs a punch, decent off-road and its a Jeep.

That's true it does stand out, but I've never really been wowed by Jeeps that aren't Wranglers.

Its an entry-level Jeep, something with a cost of ownership anyone can absorb.
The Wrangler, not so much.

That's very true, Wrangler ownership is a whole other world compared to these crossovers.
The divide in demographics paint the clearest picture.
