Hyundai Venue had the second most June sales in India

It looks like the Hyundai Venue's debut in India is off to a strong start. According to Rush Lane, the Venue finished second in June sales in its class behind the Maruti Brezza.

In its first full month of sales, the Hyundai Venue compact crossover has managed to clock sales of 8,763 units which is just 108 unit shy of the Brezza’s tally. Though SUVs like Tata Nexon and Mahindra XUV300 managed to create a niche for themselves in the promising segment, none came this close to dethroning the popular Maruti SUV.

If the Hyundai Venue continue its strong run in the subsequent months, it has a very high chance of derailing Maruti’s segment leadership in one of the Indian auto market’s most promising sub-segments. The latest kid on the block is sitting on over 35,000 bookings with waiting period extending up to six months in certain cities. In comparison, the Maruti Brezza’s sales witnessed a YoY decline of 17% last month.

Thanks to the Venue’s strong sales performance in June 2019, Hyundai India managed to mitigate the general slow down in the market. The automaker ended last month with a sales decline of 7.3% in the domestic market and things could have been worse without its newest product.

I believe they want the Venue to be a global product, if true, strong sales could mean an increased potential for upgrades in some of the earlier model years. If not i'll be disappointed. It would be great for the Venues competitive edge.

If these sales for Hyundai keep increasing and their market share grows then there's no doubt it'll be offered around the world.
It will be an even bigger asset to Hyundai if they plan on offering an electric or hybrid version.
Yeah that's very true. I could easily see the Venue turned into a hybrid or electric model.
PHEV is likely at this point.
Most automakers are able to price them within an affordable range.

If a Venue PHEV happens I will not jump into owning one right away. 6+ months out, maybe.

That makes sense, any particular reason why you're going to wait?
I heard Hyundai PHEV's and EV's can be sluggish and that's often only discovered in reviews.

That's fair, I've heard the Ioniq isn't the quickest car out there, but that could also come down to personal preference.
Or actual needs which for the average driver it meets. Just don't expect a Model 3 performance.

That's very true, I don't expect that kind of performance but I know people who think that every EV can perform like a Tesla.
Who knows, maybe Hyundai's N Performance brand starts to include EV's and Hybrids?

If Hyundai wants to stay relevant, it will be necessary.

It looks like Hyundai is already starting that with a Veloster N electric race car.

If they can expand that to the Sonata I think it will be a great move for the brand.
