Lock car while running

I am notorious for leaving my car running while a hit a convenience store for supplies. When I exit, the car will not let me lock the doors.
What am I missing here?
Please help me as the damn car is smarter than me at this point!

Ty in advance ✌🏼

That sounds like a good way to get carjacked! I don't know where you live, but in my neighborhood, that practice would be a major no-no.
Agreed. I cannot lock my car via the door handles, or the key fob when the car is running on the Keyless model.
Hyundai probably did it for safety reasons (Ex: People forgetting to turn off a running car all day, car jacking and etc.)

I don't see a reason to leave a car running except for winter, or pets inside.
My car "hack" is to turn off your car, then lock and remote start it so you can leave it running locked for a maximum of 10 minutes.

If I could lock it, I doubt I would get jacked. Seems kinda silly that I cannot, so idk.
I found a way to leave your car running for as long as you want!

• While the car is running, lock all of the doors while inside.
• Exit through the driver door.
• Use the manual door slot to lock the driver's door. (Link below about the door slot)
• All doors are locked including driver's.
• You can leave it running as needed until you comeback and unlock it through the driver's door slot.

It worked for me, but I don't think I would ever have a need for it.
