Metal Loop under the Rear Bumber.

2023 Views 10 Replies 4 Participants Last post by  Essential_22_MT6
Every Venue comes with this Metal Loop under the Rear Bumper ? I guess is used to secure the car for Transport from the factory.
I wonder if this point can be used for something else.
I looked at Owner's Manual but can't find anything there.
I know is not to use it as an attachment point for an after market towing hitch since the Manual is clear they don't recommend to tow a trailer.

That's the rear tow hook for when the car needs to be towed or pulled onto a flatbed truck. The only hitch to tow a trailer, you'll need to look at the Uhaul page, they have an official hitch you'll have to install to the rear bash bar (located behind/under the rear bumper)

Thanks for your responses. I’ll look into the U-Haul tow hitch.
Rockauto has a hitch accessory.
While the owners manual states towing is not recommended, it also states that when towing the lane keep assist needs to be turned off. I'd suggest that you check with Hyundai to see it towing might affect the new car warranty.
Prices in US dollars...top one, $169.89 Bottom one $191.79

Cool! Those seem to be great options. I’ve been just exploring the idea to add a hitch mostly to connect a Bicycle rack. And yes, always good to verify Warranty stuff before doing modifications that might void it.
Thanks!

Ended up getting the Curt Mfg. hitch (part 11609). It’s a bolt on installation, but is not as straightforward as you might think. bumber bolts are not easy to reach according to the Uhaul guy that did the installation. And Metal Loop is also a point used to secure the hitch. Installed looks just like in this pic. Now searching for a nice Bike rack which is the main purpose of this hitch.

Did you check to make sure it doesn't affect the warranty before installing?? I have a hitch I will be installing this summer but then I seen someone make a comment about the warranty and I got worried about installing the hitch. I haven't looked to see if it voids the warranty yet.

Not sure on voiding warranty. In one part of the manual it says, towing is not recommended, in another part, it tells you to turn off lake keep assist when towing. I checked the Hyundai Canada website and they have hitches and bike carriers in accessories, so it must be OK.
EDIT: Sorry thought link would take you to the hitches. Select "Accessory Frame Accessories" from the dropdown list.

Disclaimer: This is my Experience and my point of View. Every owner should check with Hyundai or their Dealership before doing any Modifications that Might void the Warranty (or part of) .

I called my Dealership and was told Warranty should not be voided as long as I don't do any towing and Installation is done by a Certified Person.
The intention of my Hitch is just to attach a Bike Rack and maybe a small Cargo Rack (not towing). I've got UHaul install the Hitch (not a DIY Mod) and they provide a separate Warranty for such Hitch as long as I own the car.
Also the Installation I had done required no drilling, no welding (bolt-on install); and 'No wiring Harness' installed, which is needed in most places in US/Canada to tow a trailer with working Stop Lights/Signals on it.

So Long Story Short: I didn't modify the Original Wiring and won't use the Hitch for towing; so I should be good.

And yes, you are correct; Hyundai offers an 'Accessory Hitch' and Dealer can Install one for you (which is more expensive than UHaul install).
