I hope it's not coming from the transmission. Do you hear the noise if you rev the engine in park or neutral? I'd check the engine oil and look at the serpentine belt for wear, just in case. It's about the only thing you can do yourself. Contact your dealer and get them to drive it so they can hear it. They may want to check the condition of the transmission fluid and maybe change it.

not saying this is where the noise is coming from, but check the engine compartment to make sure the squirrels and chipmunks or any other critter has been living and storing things like pine cones etc. in the engine compartment...I found about 8 large pine cones stuffed in the area under the battery and maple keys in the area of the intake manifold in my 2022...they can do this almost overnight, and I've been checking my engine compartment every time in the morning before I start the car...my car is my daily driver and sits outside 24/7 year round...the daily driver I had before my Venue had mostly chipmunks storing food stuffs in that engine compartment and the firs time I had some strange noises at one time in that car, and really only heard them while first driving away in the morning...that was the first time I realized critters where using my engine for a storage compartment, so since I've gotten my 2022 I keep checking this out.

If anyone is having this problem with critters, so far the best thing I've tried to discourage the critters was putting old rags soaked with apple cider vinegar in a plastic bag with some holes in the bag and I tied it to a sport that wouldn't interfere with a running engine...squirrels don't like the smell...I've tried many different remedies that I found on google. 🤷‍♂️😁

hope your noise is something you can figure out easily and won't cost you much to fix and maybe it'll be covered under the warranty.

I was reading and they said CVT make a whirring sound different than other transmissions. It’s a closed system so I can’t check the transmission fluid I have to take it to the dealer.
I just had a 200 mile trip when I noticed the last leg of it. I could hear when I accelerate I hope it’s not the transmission. Under warranty but who wants to deal with it

IVT/CVT type transmissions do tend to make a whirring noise, to the point that many early CVT owners had many complaints. Hyundai did a good job on sound deadening so when you do hear it, it can't be good. I hope it turns out to be something simple.

I really hope this doesn't become a very common problem.

Every week I discover another person who has a problem with IVT.

It seems that the problem is not the chain, it is parts around that are failing.
It doesn't really matter because right now every problem requires replacing the entire gearbox.

In Israel, Hyundai only gives a 3 year warranty.
My parents bought 2021 venue a few months ago with 15 thousand km.
There is a warranty left for 1 more year.
the gearbox worries me although there is currently no problem.

You are right, if the chain fails there is no drive at the wheels. The rpm changes seen by many prior to failure makes me think it's the piston seals failing and leaking by on one or both of the pulleys that drive the chain. If the piston seals fail completely there will be no pressure to maintain pressure on the chain to effect gear ratio changes, then there will be no drive to the wheels, even if the chain remains intact.

I'm guessing it's the transmission. When my 2021 venue started making new sounds, then started having issues "revving" rpms, then it turned out they had to replace the transmission. This could be the beginning. I think Hyundai needs to recall their transmissions.
