Did a Long weekend trip with the Hitch Cargo Tray loaded. We were 4 adults traveling with backpacks and stuff loaded in the standard cargo area behind the rear seats; and mostly camping gear in the Cargo tray which I covered with a waterproof bag and secured with straps. I can say my Venue performed great. According to the trip computer Fuel burn was
5.9liter per 100 km = 38.8669 Miles per gallon. Not bad for a 800km trip in summer with temperatures in the mid 30s Celsius (mid 90s Fahrenheit). Highway was
Busy and mountain passes made me downshift to 5th. and even 4th. Gear when going uphill in some segments of the road.

I assume that mileage was with the A/C blasting? Quite impressive.

Yes. AC was on most of the trip; and it cool well with the fan at 2 speed and temperature dial all the way to coldest setting. I just turned the AC off for a minute or 2 when going up at a mountain pass before I reached the Summit of such ; just to see if there was a change in performance, but it felt pretty much the same.
The 1.6L engine is not particularly strong but with a Manual Transmission is manageable, I don't think the RPMs climbed above 4K even when going uphill in 4th gear at about 100Kph.
That is awesome. If you had a larger SUV, your gas costs would've been at least double (not to mention your car payment would be twice as much as well).

I like how those gas station vent pipes look like the manual tranny shift pattern that you have for your avatar/profile pic. :)

Part-Time Solution to a Part-Time Problem.

Yessir, most people have too much that they don't need.
Hauling lots of space/weight even though it is not needed 95% of the time.
